In case you haven’t already heard about this, EPA just announced that it has revised Method 28 for testing OWBs and changed the name from Method 28 Outdoor Wood-fired Hydronic Heaters (OWHH) to Method 28 WHH to include indoor heaters as well as outdoor heaters.

See: EPA’s Residential Wood Smoke Info Exchange blog at http://blog.epa.gov/woodsmoke/2011/08/hydronicheaters/updated-revisions-to-method-28/ for the announcement.

Details of the revised Method 28 WHH are available on EPA’s Web site at: www.epa.gov/burnwise/pdfs/owhhphase2agreement.pdf starting on page 17.

One OWB manufacturer (HeatSource) has decided to stop manufacturing OWBs, citing/blaming EPA’s revised test methods: http://journalstar.com/business/local/article_4830a42c-e48f-53ba-be4f-f8c5761a8c74.html
